The Nigerian Police has offered scholarship to children of
an assaulted civilian in Isheri area of Lagos State.
Addressing a gathering in Abuja, the Inspector General of
Police, Mr Solomon Arase, said the police officer involved in
the act has since been relieved of his duties and remanded
in prison.
The police high command also offered scholarships to 355
children of some officers, deceased and serving.
The IGP explained that the gesture is aimed at supporting
members of the public, who have suffered human rights
abuses by police officers and also assist children of serving
and deceased police officers.
Government officials at the event gave advice on how to
sustain the laudable programme and promised to give their
